Wedding Memories - Questions to ask your Photographer

Your wedding pictures will be your memories for life. And selecting the right photographer is all important.

1.  What's his photography style- formal, classic contemporary, and so on? Do you like his work? Can you picture yourself photographed the same way?

2.  Has this person photographed other weddings? Ask for references. A photographer who doesn't have references or is afraid to give them to you may not be the person that you need to hire.

3.  Is he well acquainted with your wedding rituals? You don't want him to miss out on important, auspicious rites that must be captured.

4.  Carefully examine each photographer's past work. Notice whether: photos are framed well photos are over- or underexposed lighting is effective details are visible

5.  Will the photographer you interact with, be physically present to take the pictures? Or will he depute his assistant? Be certain that you know which photographer that is going to be there and see HIS/HER work and meet them.

6.  Is the photographer open to a list of must-take photos (pictures you definitely want shot)?

7.  How many rolls of film would suffice for the wedding ceremony and the reception?

8. What kind of lighting and other equipment (such as tripods) does he use? Does he bring backup equipment in case of an emergency?

9.  How does he charge? By the number of snaps you need, the hours he spends at the wedding, the developing time, or a combination of all the above factors?

10.  Are their any freebies on offer? (Some photographers give a free wedding album).

11.  How many rolls of film will be shot? How many proofs and final prints will be produced? Are packages available? Can you get a price list? (Make sure you understand what everything costs, including reorders).

12.  How soon after the function can he give you the album?

13.  Is he patient, cordial and service oriented? Would you be able to work with him through the wedding day?
