A happy marriage grows from husband and wife, lovers, friends, parents, grandparents, but at ll stages the husband and wife is most apparent and important. This journey together goes through ups and downs, but it comes out triumphant in being together for a repetition of their marriage vows in silver, gold and diamond.

1. The first stage is the honeymoon stage when the couple just seems to take everything in their stride. of idealism. Adjustments, even if difficult, are made and nothing fazes them as they are positive, happy and still have the honeymoon glow around them.

2. Realisation hits when all their dreams do not come true. At this time each other's faults and shortcomings are brought up sometimes with a vengeance.

3. During the period the children are growing, the couple is too busy with and totally engrossed in rearing them to point out one another's shortcomings.

4. Slowly the toddlers become little children, and they grow into adolescents. Now the couple has more time to themselves and can begin to talk about some dreams and aspirations that they had put on hold.

5. The children are now on their own, having made their way into the world and started their own families. A final readjustment has to be made by the couple. Sometimes they use this period to vent their frustrations and disappointments in life.

6. At all times, from the very start of married life it is a good practice for husband and wife to pray together and later on with the children. It makes for a very cohesive united family.
