Bridal Shopping - Hair Style

When you find a hairstylist, make an appointment for a consultation at least three months before the wedding day.

Carry along with you a fabric sample of your sari and magazine cuttings of the bridal hairstyles you like.

Also take a friend or your mother along with you so that you can discuss various options together -- two heads are better than one!

Mention what kind of wedding you will be having -- a church wedding, a civil ceremony or an elaborate do. All this goes into deciding the total look.

Consider going in for different hairstyles for the various pre-wedding functions -- you'll need to book your hairdresser in advance for as many days as required.

Dress rehearsals are very important -- meet your hairdresser at least a week before D-day. Choose the hairstyle that will best suit you. Ask him or her to actually create the hairstyle you have in mind. If you don't take it, there'll be enough time to change to another one you will be happy with.

Chemical treatments like perms and hair colour jobs should all be done a few weeks before your wedding. This allows your hair to settle down. Also, if you're not 100 per cent happy with the look, there'll still time to set things right.

If your groom is shorter, as tall as you or taller, tell the expert -- it helps in deciding the hairstyle.

It's better to opt for a simple hairstyle for the wedding ceremony -- Indian brides are blessed with thick and heavy hair, on top of which most will wear a vell, chunni, jewellery, flowers, etc. It's best to have your hairstyle as light as possible. For the reception, go in for a more elaborate hairdo.

Wedding-day hairstyles don't necessarily have to be extravagant -- it may even be best if you went in for only a slightly dressier version of your usual hairstyle. Don't go for a dramatically radical hairstyle -- you want your bridegroom to recognize you!

Remember :
Bridal hairstyles should be easy to dismantle, disentangle and restyle. You may need to change your dress for the evening -- make sure your hair transforms easily.
