Bridal Shopping - The Look Tips - II

contd..

The Wedding outfit

Now that you have selected the make-up, hair and jewellery, decide on the garment itself. There is only one rule here. Keep the focus on your face. Ensure that the garment makes your face look great and makes you look slimmer and taller. Choose a colour that is unusual and flattering.

Consider the backdrop you will be against, the colour of your groom's suit and the colours the other people on the podium will be wearing that day. In your mind's eye, focus on the inevitable group photographs. Discreetly suggest colours to your family members and stress the importance of the overall 'look' you are aspiring to create.

Accents!

You now have the task of picking the perfect shoes, bag, etc. You can ruin an ensemble if you don't choose your accessories well. Ideally, they should be subtle and unseen. Don't let your shoes make a statement of their own. I have often seen bad shoes detract from glowing brides.

The rehearsal

After you have planned your look and co-ordinated the various pieces together, it is prudent to take a look at how it comes together a week before the wedding. Have a close friend with an sense of style eliminate or add to the look.

Keep the following in mind

Always consider the weather.

Comfort and practicality above all.

Experiment with new fabrics. A lycra petticoat or a knit gown make a refreshing change that shows your creativity.

Though you may not be "that sort of person", a bit of shine, sheen and glitter is not a bad idea on your wedding day.

Beware the disaster of foundation that is not perfect for your skin tone. Haven't we seen enough unnatuarally white-faced brides or ones who seem to have swallowed a sunset?

Apply make-up from brow to neckline and some on the arms and midriff as well. This avoids the perfect face-dark neck juxtaposition.

Insist on a lining that feels good. Even if your gown or outfit is made of linen, it should be lined in pure satin. On your big day, you deserve the luxury and feel of real counture.

Sheer, wispy and fluid accents enhance the allure of a bride.

Jewellery should be subtle glitter rather than heavy gleming gold. The choice of metal should be warm and glowing on the skin.

Wear shoes with delicate straps if you have pretty feet. Should you wish to have closed shoes, choose a pair of designer heeled pumps that are long in the toe.

Go for long, lean lines instead of horizontal styling

Mind in line

On your wedding day, there is one element that no one can provide but yourself: Your mind set.

From the evening before, bask in the wonderful thought that you will be experiencing a rare, joyful day in your life. Stay happy in your mind and enjoy your wedding.

Sure, a few things may go wrong, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the inner joy you feel. If you approach your marriage in this positive manner, you will be the glowing bride you deserve to be.
