Selecting Transportation For Your Wedding Day

Very often we find that in the bustle and excitement of arranging a wedding one does tend to leave some things like transport for the last minute. So much time and effort is spent on planning the dream wedding, viz. attire, ornaments, reception, makeup and beauty and the like, that often the topic of transport is left for the last minute. Then it is a mad rush to the yellow page, car rentals, friends, and make their selection depending upon their finances and the reliability of the rental agency and the vehicle.

Well, here are some important considerations and questions to ask when selecting your transportation company -- in order to help you have a dependable and most enjoyable ride!

Type of Vehicles - Ask about the types of cars that the company offers? How many passengers will the car hold comfortably?

Ask specifically which car you will have on the big wedding day. If possible check it out physically so that you have well maintained car meeting you the wedding day. Check it out both inside and outside.

Check the colour and give specific instructions about the colour you want, white if that is the preference.Find out which types of cars are available. You may get to ride in a Mercedes or Rolls Royce. Make sure it is a roomy comfortable car, and the occupants are not crushed especially the bride and her attendants, If the marriage is in the hot season, then it would be prudent to try for an air-conditioned car.

Condition of Vehicles - check its condition.

Chauffeurs:Check the credentials of the chauffeur / driver who should be a professional and not any one behind the wheel. The chauffeur should be well dressed in an uniform as far as possible.

Price - Check their charges. Is it based on time limit (2-3 hours) or distance? If it is based on time, what happens if the allotted time is passed and what is the extra charge?

In Indian weddings, the car is also used for the barat procession. What will be the charge in such a case, as many a time the barat goes from one city to another, or village as the case may be.

Fix the duration of the period the car will be hired for. The period varies from case to case as some may require it for few days, others may be for a week, or even more. The question of tips is another important point not to be overlooked. Inquire about the normal ccustomary amount to be given and whether it is given to the agency or the driver. This avoids haggling and unpleasantness on a joyous occasion.

Discounts - Check out the discounts that may be availed of, especially if the car is being hired for a number of functions held in connection with the marriage.

Ask about any Wedding Specials or Packages or complimentary packages that are offered with the rental of the car.

Directions - Make sure that the rental people and the drive know the area from the bride and her family where the bride and her family reside and from where they will be picked up. The also applies to the marriage venue, reception hall if it is a different place and also the groom's place. The last because very often the groom's people too could do with an extra car even if they have made firm arrangements themselves.

With a little extra effort up front... all you'll have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride!

Also do not forget that in some cases the baraat does not travel by car due to distance, but may have to go by train or even fly. In such cases it is good planning to check these arrangements three months ahead and reserve the requisite number of seats required. Three months is often required, as one has to consider the tourist season, the pleasant months from November to April and the marriage seasons according to the various communities; Otherwise face disappointment at the last minute.
